RSSWM Welcomes SEA Games Gold Medalist at Airport – Ummi Mashitah Returns with Honor

(Miri, 22nd) The Rumpun Silat Sarawak Wilayah Miri (RSSWM) held a welcoming ceremony at Miri Airport last night to warmly greet women’s silat athlete Ummi Mashitah Hassan, who returned home after winning a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games).

RSSWM also invited numerous silat practitioners to witness together this glorious moment as the athlete, who brought honor to Malaysia, returned home. The atmosphere onsite was lively.

It is understood that Ummi Mashitah, in this year’s SEA Games women’s silat event, prevailed against strong opponents from Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand, ultimately bringing home a valuable gold medal for the country. Her performance was inspiring.

In a media interview, Ummi Mashitah said that she and her team felt deeply grateful and excited to win the gold medal for the country. This remarkable achievement was the result of long-term hard training and collective effort. She also revealed that she would continue to focus on training and aim for the international competition in Turkey at the end of next year.

She expressed her gratitude to her family, coaches, teammates, friends, and the people of Malaysia for their unwavering support, as well as thanked the National Sports Council (MSN) and National Sports Institute (ISN) for providing excellent training conditions and logistical support.

At the welcoming ceremony, RSSWM chairman Maton Sulong, Sarawak state head coach Fazrul Jamman, RSSWM secretary Mohamad Azahabujang, as well as Ummi Mashitah’s parents and others were present to share in the honor and joy.
