Sebastian Ting: Children Courageously Taking the Stage, Competitions are Opportunities for Learning and Growth

(Miri, 24th) Datuk Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Sarawak, emphasized that competitions are essential opportunities for children’s learning and growth. Bravely stepping onto the stage with the accompaniment of parents and the support of classmates not only enhances their own abilities but also adds a bright color to their future memories.

 

He pointed this out while officiating the opening of the "5th Moral Speech Competition" organized by Miri De Jiao Association Zi Li Ge's Education and Outreach Group this morning. He stated that students can gain knowledge through participating in competitions and leave precious and unforgettable memories in the process of growing up.

 

He lamented that time flies, and children will grow up in the blink of an eye, so parents should cherish the time spent with their children. He also encouraged participants by saying that regardless of winning or losing, participation itself is a form of victory.

 

He congratulated the 33 participating students, praising the courage and effort they displayed in the competition. He noted that many people are too timid to stand on stage, and these students, by bravely overcoming their inner fears, are worthy of praise and emulation.

Sebastian Ting stated that the theme of this competition is "morality.” Morality is an important heritage of Chinese culture that has been passed down for five thousand years. Traditional values such as respecting the elderly and honoring the wise are the spiritual treasures of the Chinese nation and also the unique advantages of Chinese culture.

 

He hopes that through activities like this, children will have a deeper understanding and inheritance of the core values of Chinese culture.

 

Moreover, he mentioned that it is gratifying and proud to see students studying hard and showing themselves in their growth process.

 

He urged Zi Li Ge to continue organizing similar activities every year to provide more platforms for students to showcase their talents and improve themselves.

 

This competition attracted 33 students to participate, spending a meaningful day together with the company of parents and teachers. Sebastian Ting believes that the value and significance of moral education will be deeply rooted in the hearts of all participants, continuing to thrive and flourish.
