Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei stated on the 22nd that it is currently impossible to assert that an agreement between Iran and the United States is close to being reached, as significant disagreements between the two sides persist.
When discussing the visit of senior Pakistani officials to Tehran, he said that this demonstrates the current situation has entered a “turning point or decisive stage.”
He mentioned that Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Munir has visited Tehran and that relevant communication is ongoing.
When asked whether this indicates changes in the negotiation process, Baghaei said that, at present, it cannot be said that an Iran-U.S. agreement is near, as there are serious and broad differences between them and diplomacy is a time-consuming process.
He stated that one should not expect results in just a few weeks or months from several rounds of consultations.
He emphasized that diplomatic negotiations are a long-term process in themselves and both sides are utilizing every opportunity to convey their respective positions.
