(Bandar Seri Begawan, 8th) The Ministry of Health’s Department of Environmental Health Services (JPKAS) will begin conducting tuberculosis (TB) screenings today at the Tutong District Central Hospital.
The Ministry of Health stated that TB screening is beneficial for high-risk groups, as early detection and treatment can prevent the disease and reduce the likelihood of severe complications.
This initiative is also in line with the World Health Organization's global ‘End TB Strategy’ launched in 2014, which aims to eliminate the tuberculosis epidemic by 2035.
Eligible groups include people aged 65 and above, individuals diagnosed with hyperglycemia (diabetes), and patients who are currently undergoing dialysis treatment.
Exempted from screening are people who have undergone a chest X-ray examination in the past year, as well as those who have experienced complications or adverse reactions after receiving a chest X-ray.
