(Pagoh, 5th) Bersatu Party Chairman, Tan Sri Muhyiddin questioned what connection there is between the Johor state election and pardoning former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib, who is currently serving a prison sentence.
He stated during a political speech in Pagoh last night (4th) that he himself served as deputy prime minister during Najib’s tenure as prime minister, and at that time, he had questioned the government's strategic investment fund.
He subsequently lost his position as deputy prime minister in 2015.
Muhyiddin pointed out that Najib has already been convicted, and he asked the audience at the scene whether they agreed Najib should be released, to which the answer from about 70 attendees present was "no."
Previously, Najib's son, Nazifuddin, pointed out that if Barisan Nasional wins big in the Johor state election, it would signal the people's support for Najib and hope for his pardon.
