Taiwanese singer Qiu Jun rose to fame from a talent show and became popular last year by singing the Taiwanese song "Life on the Move" for the drama "Glamorous Taxi Company." It was revealed on the 6th that he was involved in a hit-and-run accident where he hit and killed a person on December 27th in the early hours. He reported himself to the authorities only two days later and continued working as usual, causing public outrage. Neither his record label could provide his response, nor did Qiu Jun address the public. Sharp-eyed netizens noticed he quietly changed his social media bio by removing "Collision-style singer," yet he never posted an apology regarding the incident. After a day of growing backlash, it was Qiu Jun's mother who first posted a statement.
Qiu's mother posted on Facebook, saying: "My son Qiu Jun will apologize to everyone... We regret that this happened... The agency is now actively handling the situation... Despite reaching out to express our concern right after the incident, the other party avoided meeting us. I still want to express my deepest apologies to the victim's family... We will face this; we will not evade responsibility."
