52-year-old Taiwanese celebrity Xiao Ma (Ni Zijun) has largely left the entertainment industry in recent years and become an internet influencer by running a podcast with his wife. However, recently his older brother exposed to Mirror Media that he questioned the source of Xiao Ma’s income, saying it was unclear, and that his lavish lifestyle might be connected to financial dealings with their second sister, who was involved in the 'Aofeng Affinity Fund Fraud.' He reported his brother to the Investigation Bureau, suspecting that Xiao Ma might have helped launder money.
Xiao Ma’s brother revealed that over ten years ago, their second sister once served as deputy manager at Zhaofu Wealth Management Company. Not long after starting the job, she bought two luxury homes and sent her children to study abroad. Xiao Ma also joined the company as a sales agent, but later quit in anger after a work dispute with the sister. Shortly thereafter, the company was raided by prosecutors and investigators over illegal sales of the Hong Kong-based Aofeng Fund. He himself was questioned by authorities, but the second sister emerged unscathed. He suspects that his sister made illegal money and Xiao Ma helped launder it, rupturing their relationship since then. Furthermore, the brother claimed he once found what he thought was a 'demon-raising' porcelain urn at home, suspected it was left by the second sister, and believes it is the reason why the family’s fortunes have dwindled ever since. After their father passed, inheritance disputes escalated among the siblings; three years ago, he attempted mediation but failed, eventually deciding to file a lawsuit for fairness. He emphasized that his reporting was not an act of revenge, but out of hope that his brother and sister could 'turn over a new leaf.'
In response, Xiao Ma issued a four-point statement, saying that in recent years he merely adjusted the pace of his life, not experiencing financial irregularities. He said his second sister immigrated to Canada as early as 2010 and never worked for Zhaofu. He and his sister are each financially independent, with no mutual financial dealings. As for the 'raising demons' accusation, he dismissed it as nonsense, stressing that the whole family is devoutly religious and can only respond to his brother’s misunderstandings through prayer.
Xiao Ma pointed out that after their father's death, the siblings all signed documents to relinquish their inheritance, yet the brother still demanded 20 million New Taiwan Dollars (about 2.68 million Malaysian Ringgit) as settlement, and lost emotional control when their mother was gravely ill. At present, their elderly mother is cared for by Xiao Ma and their eldest sister, and the family has chosen to deal with the dispute through love and prayer, hoping that their brother will soon resolve his inner issues and that the family can one day be reconciled.
