U.S. President Trump and First Lady Melania visited flood-affected areas in Texas on the 11th local time.
Multiple regions in Texas experienced flooding due to heavy rainfall on the 4th, resulting in at least 120 deaths and 160 people missing. Among them, Kerr County in Texas was the hardest hit, with 96 fatalities reported.
President Trump and his wife visited Kerr County to inspect the disaster, and communicated with the families of the victims, rescue personnel, and local officials.
Trump stated that the floods in Texas were “terrible and deadly.”
He expressed his condolences to all the victims and offered sympathy to their families.
In response to doubts regarding the timeliness of flood warnings, Trump said: “No one knew how the flood would happen or why it would happen. I think under the circumstances, everyone did very well, and I admire the efforts of all involved.”
He pointed out that his impressions of the relief work could be summed up in two words: “unity” and “capability.”
Texas Governor Abbott accompanied Trump and Melania during their visit to the disaster area that day.
Abbott stated that during the relief efforts, the Texas government and the federal government cooperated closely to quickly ensure the needs of Texas residents.
