Samuel Simon: Sarawak Public Relations Unit Achieves Outstanding Success in Multiple Areas This Year

(Kuching, 25th) The Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) continues to achieve outstanding success in 2024 across multiple areas, including media management, promotional projects, and community engagement.

The director of the Sarawak Public Communications Unit, Samuel Simon, stated that as of October this year, UKAS has released 18,359 news articles, with TikTok platform views reaching 10.8 million, while the UKAS Facebook page has garnered 2.7 million visits and gained 243,738 followers.

He said other achievements include the creation of 1,259 infographics and 32 live broadcast events.

Additionally, he mentioned that promotional video clicks have reached 2.3 million times, with up to 37 billboards placed and 16 training courses hosted.

He further stated that in documentation, UKAS collected 3,448 news clippings, produced 195 video clips, and managed 1,584 related issues.

He said other major activities also included 18 “Juh Randau” meetings and 34 live reports.

In terms of media management, he noted that UKAS conducted 463 media-related activities, demonstrating their commitment to strengthening strategic relationships with local and national media organizations.

“In 2024, UKAS also actively participated in major events, such as the 2024 Sarawak Media Conference in collaboration with the Sarawak Promoting Development Awareness Association, and the 2024 National Journalists’ Day held along with the 21st Malaysian Games and the Paralympic Games with Bernama.”

“As a leader in publicity, promotion, and media committees, UKAS collaborated with media partners such as TV Sarawak (TVS), Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), Bernama, National Film Development Corporation (FINAS), Astro Awani, etc.”

“We successfully became champions of these two sporting events, proving the extraordinary cooperation and commitment of all parties. Thanks to Dato Abdullah Saidol and Dato Hii Ching Khii for their guidance and support.”

He said this during a welcome speech at the 2024 Sarawak Public Communications Unit Appreciation Dinner held on Sunday.

The ceremony was officiated by the  Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol. 

At the same ceremony, the winners of the 2023 Outstanding Service Award were also celebrated, acknowledging their contributions to UKAS.

This also included photography and writing competitions held during the 2024 21st Sarawak Malaysian Games.

The photography category winner was Mohamad Ra'ees, runner-up was Mohamad Fadhullah, and the third place went to Mohamad Nahari.

The writing category champion was Anas, runner-up Zabidi, and third place went to Mohamad Roji.

Winners in both categories received certificates and cash prizes.
