Real life is often more dramatic than fiction. Despite the 2024 box office success of the film It Ends with Us, there was major backstage drama when the leading lady, “Gossip Girl” Blake Lively, clashed seriously with director and fellow lead actor Justin Baldoni. In an interview, Blake even mentioned experiencing sexual harassment, sparking a legal battle between the two. Now, just two weeks before their major court case was set to begin, the parties have surprisingly reached an out-of-court settlement.
The severe conflict between the two during filming led to a series of counter lawsuits, with both sides having moments of victory and defeat. But just two weeks before the case was to go to trial, both parties chose to settle matters privately out of court and released a joint statement: “The film It Ends with Us is a proud accomplishment made possible by everyone’s hard work. Its aim is to raise awareness about domestic violence, to support survivors of domestic violence, and to have a positive impact on the lives of all survivors. That is the goal we strive for. We acknowledge the challenges that arose during the process, and recognize that Blake’s concerns were worth listening to. We remain steadfast in our commitment to creating a work environment free of inappropriate conduct. We sincerely hope this matter can be put to rest, so all involved can move forward peacefully—including fostering mutual respect in online spaces.” As for the terms of the out-of-court settlement, they have not been made public.
