On the 17th, NBC News quoted current and former US officials as reporting that a new US assessment has found that, in the June airstrikes on three major Iranian nuclear facilities, only one was mostly destroyed, while the other two were not as seriously damaged.
The three Iranian nuclear facilities attacked by the US military include Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
The report stated that two current officials said that the US government believes the attack on the Fordow nuclear facility has successfully delayed its uranium enrichment capability by up to two years.
The report noted that the other two targeted nuclear facilities were not so seriously damaged, with only a slight reduction in uranium enrichment capacity. Should Iran wish to resume work, the facilities could be restored within the coming months.
However, in an email statement to Reuters, White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre said: 'As the President has said, and as experts have also confirmed, the "Midnight Hammer" operation has completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear capability.'
