Wang Yi Meets Pakistani Foreign Minister: On US-Iran Talks, Pakistan is a Trustworthy Mediator

(China, 29th) On the 28th, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Dar in New York, stating that Pakistan is actively mediating US-Iran talks and is a trustworthy, competent mediator. China will continue to support Pakistan's peace efforts.

According to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, the two sides exchanged views on the situation in Iran. Wang Yi said that China will continue to support Pakistan’s peace efforts, jointly promote all parties to adhere to dialogue and negotiations, push for a comprehensive ceasefire, and restore peace and stability in the Middle East Gulf region as soon as possible.

Not long ago, Pakistani Prime Minister Sharif visited China and met separately with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang.

The two countries issued a joint statement, emphasizing that both sides reached new and broad consensus on deepening the China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, as well as on international and regional issues of common concern. Both sides also agreed to tap the potential of Gwadar Port and build it into a regional connectivity hub.

During the meeting with Dar, Wang Yi said that Sharif’s successful visit to China and the new important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries has elevated the building of the China-Pakistan community of shared future to a new level.
