(Sri Aman, 12th) – Yesterday morning, a chain collision involving five cars occurred at the Jalan Rentap traffic light intersection in Sri Aman, resulting in four people being injured and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Sri Aman District Police Chief, Superintendent Aswandy Anis, stated that the accident took place at around 11 am yesterday.

He said that a 24-year-old man driving a Toyota Vios was heading from Sri Aman Hospital towards the city center when he allegedly lost control upon reaching the intersection, leading to the accident.

"The vehicle then crashed into four other cars that were stopped at the red light, which in turn triggered a chain collision at the scene."

He pointed out that the vehicles involved included a Perodua Bezza, a Perodua Kenari, and two Toyota Hilux four-wheel drives.

He said the accident caused injuries to two drivers and two passengers, who were later taken by ambulance to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.

"Police are currently investigating the case under Section 43(1) of the 1987 Road Transport Act (careless driving resulting in an accident)."

Aswandy also called for members of the public with information about the incident to assist with the investigation, and may contact Traffic Investigation Officer Inspector Ahmad Mustaqim at 010-4427240.

In addition, he reminded road users to always obey traffic rules and stay focused while driving to prevent unnecessary accidents, especially at busy traffic light intersections.
