SARIKEI: Recipients of government funding have been reminded to put the allocations to good use by organising programmes that create a positive impact on the community.
Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii stressed that the funds were not meant solely for the growth of associations or clubs, but should also serve to benefit the wider local community.
He made the call during the Minor Rural Project (MRP) cheque presentation ceremony for the Sarikei parliamentary constituency yesterday (Aug 22).
At the event, Huang, who is also Sarikei MP and Repok assemblyman, handed over cheques to 15 organisations in the constituency.
The recipients included various associations, clubs, government staff bodies, Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) and schools, aimed at supporting annual programmes and improving community welfare.
Among the beneficiaries were Komuniti Madani Repok, the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SMK Sungai Paoh, the Islamic Welfare Body of the Sarikei District Police Headquarters and JKKK Empaling Lanyau.
