Another Terror Attack in Southern Thailand: Car Bomb Detonated at Road Checkpoint

A car bomb attack occurred last night in Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province (also known as Tao Gong Province) in southern Thailand, fortunately resulting in only one security personnel receiving minor injuries.

The attack took place at 8:15 pm on Wednesday, when assailants drove a black sedan and launched a car bomb attack at the Salamay Road checkpoint near the local Kumafeng village. The vehicle was allowed to crash directly into a sandbag defense wall before exploding, creating chaos.

The attackers then escaped along a small alley leading to the Marine Fisheries Research and Development Center. The explosion caused a security volunteer stationed in the watchtower to suffer an ear injury, resulting in tinnitus, but was not life-threatening.

After the incident, the security volunteer team at the base immediately opened fire in return, attempting to stop the assailants from taking further action. Authorities have now stepped up security and continue to investigate the suspects involved. Local military and police have intervened and are investigating this terrorist attack.
