Obama Presidential Center Opens: Former Presidents Gather, Trump Absent

All living former U.S. presidents attended a star-studded event on the 18th, coming together to witness former President Obama inaugurate his presidential center in Chicago, while current President Trump was not present.

According to AFP, the 64-year-old Obama delivered a speech at the opening of this distinctly modern center. He touched on the concerns many Americans have about democracy being in crisis. When he mentioned the phrase 'No King,' a slogan widely used by anti-Trump protesters, he received applause from the crowd.
Multiple former presidents and their wives attended the event, including George W. Bush, Biden, and Clinton.
However, Obama expressed that the 'vast majority' of people want the nation to bridge its divisions.

He said: "What people desire is not endless anger and division. They are seeking fairness, common sense, and mutual respect."

The campus houses archives and memorabilia from Obama's two presidential terms and officially opens to the public on the 19th.

The event was a gathering of stars, including renowned director Steven Spielberg, Hollywood superstar Tom Hanks, and talk show queen Oprah, among other famous personalities. In addition, U2's lead singer Bono, Stevie Wonder, and rock singer Bruce Springsteen delivered spectacular performances.

Republican George W. Bush and Democrats Clinton and Biden walked onto the stage together, joining Obama, his wife, and their two daughters for a group appearance.

The 80-year-old Trump not only missed the event, but he has also continued to criticize Obama, sometimes resorting to personal attacks, thereby breaking the long-standing unwritten rule of mutual respect between former presidents.
