In the Precinct Putrajaya gas explosion case, Selangor Chief Minister Dato' Seri Amirudin announced that the state government will cover a monthly rent of RM2,000 for each of the 613 affected households for six months.
The total amount involved is RM7.35 million.
The Selangor government had previously offered temporary accommodations for the victims, including apartments at Kota Warisan, Sepang, or 87 Airbnb units. Amirudin indicated that the affected residents could move into these areas and receive related rental assistance.
"Some of the affected residents complained that these locations were too far, so we decided it would be best to provide rental assistance."
On the other hand, he also stated that 219 affected households had registered and would start receiving financial aid from the federal government and Petronas this afternoon. This includes RM10,000 for completely destroyed properties, RM7,500 for partially destroyed properties, and RM5,000 for tenants.
When asked about the retaliatory tariff policy announced by the United States, Amirudin stated that he would convene a meeting with relevant experts next week to discuss countermeasures.
