Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and visiting Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong held their annual leaders’ meeting on Monday, during which both sides are expected to sign 26 cooperation agreements and memoranda of understanding, encompassing areas such as environmental protection and carbon trading.
Indonesian Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that during the annual leaders’ meeting, the two countries will officially sign or announce 26 cooperation agreements, further deepening their bilateral relations.
Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong arrived in Indonesia on Sunday evening and was welcomed by Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and members of the cabinet.
It is understood that the cooperation documents to be signed by both parties include projects on environmental protection and carbon trading.
Previously, on June 29, the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and the Singapore Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment had already signed a memorandum of understanding on environmental protection cooperation in Jakarta, providing a framework for future collaboration in developing the circular economy, waste management, environmental governance, prevention of transboundary pollution, and tackling climate change.
The two sides will also strengthen talent training in the field of low-carbon economy, carry out regular exchanges of technical personnel, conduct joint research and green demonstration projects, while promoting the transfer of environmental technologies and accelerating innovation in environmental governance and sustainable development.
