Giant Lifelike Golden Python Head Shocks Tourists: 'Too Frightening!'

In the Yuhuanggou Scenic Area of Songshan, Dengfeng City, Henan Province, China, there is a 'giant snake head' painted rock. While it is extremely eye-catching and astonishing, it has also scared quite a few tourists due to its lifelike appearance, even prompting some complaints. At present, the scenic area has covered it with a green cloth.
According to various Chinese media reports, this boulder was originally a natural stone in the river. In order to make the site more interesting, the scenic area invited professionals to paint it in the shape of a 'golden python head' that echoes the natural contours of the stone, creating a vivid effect.
From videos uploaded online, the painted boulder appears in the rapids like a snake's head emerging from the water. The local management committee has stated that the painting design was inspired by the stone's naturally snake-like shape. There are no safety hazards, and visitors can enjoy themselves with peace of mind.

However, after the 'snake head boulder' was revealed, visitor opinions were quite divided. Some plainly said, "This snake head is too scary, it should be covered," while others thought, "This is a combination of nature and creativity and should be preserved."
"We received tourist complaints not long ago and therefore arranged for staff to cover the painted rock," said a staff member from the scenic area. The painting on the rock was commissioned by the scenic area, and the stone itself is a natural river boulder that is billions of years old. Although the image of the golden python is itself harmless, people still have a fear of snakes, so the scenic area is considering repainting the stone in another style in the future.
