Malaysian piano goddess Cathryn Li recently spoke out regarding the 'Wang Wang incident,' expressing deep heartbreak and calling on more influencers, public figures, celebrities, and the media to pay attention and speak up for lives that cannot speak for themselves.
Cathryn noted that many of her friends and family members are still unaware of the Wang Wang incident, reflecting that this issue has yet to gain broader visibility, which makes her more aware of the importance of public attention toward animal abuse issues. She emphasized that every share and every voice may allow more people to see the problem and drive societal change. “Some small lives, if no one speaks up for them, really will have no voice. Justice for Wang Wang. I hope Wang Wang can be the start of change, not just a forgotten name.”
In response to passionate citizens voluntarily raising funds to put up billboard ads around KLCC and Bukit Bintang to support Wang Wang and promote anti-animal-abuse ideals, Cathryn expressed her support and agreement. She believes that in addition to using billboards to inform more people about the incident, more influential individuals need to step forward so that society can maintain focus on animal welfare. “Even if some information circulation is restricted, a public issue worthy of discussion should not be forgotten. What everyone is concerned about is not just Wang Wang, but all animals currently suffering abuse and unable to protect themselves.”

On the other hand, the passionate team that initiated the billboard campaign stated that they hit their fundraising goal in just two days, so they have stopped accepting donations. After deducting the costs of two days of large billboard displays at both locations, the remaining funds will be used for future support and public education activities.
The team also clarified that the funds mainly came from voluntary public support and are fully accounted for. During the billboard displays, the team also set up information booths and distributed flyers on site to help the public understand what happened. Many passersby stopped to pay attention, and some were moved to tears by Wang Wang’s suffering, calling on society to implement better animal protection measures.#
