(Kuching, Jan 12) In response to the recent talks between Anwar and Shibushige on making Sarawak a new energy hub, Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Sri Fadillah Yusof pointed out that Sarawak being chosen as a center for new energy, especially hydrogen energy development, may have a comprehensive impact on Malaysia.

He stated that this development center would be used to export hydrogen to Japan and other countries, which would not only boost Sarawak's economy but also Malaysia's economy.

“This is not only beneficial to Sarawak's economy but also to Malaysia because hydrogen is a clean energy. Moreover, it may also become a new energy alternative to nuclear power.”

Also serving as the Minister of Energy Transition and Public Utilities, Dato' Sri Fadillah Yusof said during an interview after attending the Malaysian Bar Association East Malaysia Branch dinner yesterday that Sarawak is at the forefront of the hydrogen energy sector, hence being chosen as the development center with Japan and South Korea investing in Sarawak.

He mentioned that Malaysia established this cooperation with Japan because Japan possesses more advanced technology than Korea, and this new cooperation will bring new technology to Sarawak.

He said choosing Sarawak will make it a major hub for the hydrogen economy in the Asian region.
