Thai PM: No Fuel Shortage During Songkran

(Thailand, 4th) - Thai Prime Minister Anutin said on the 3rd that the government has made preparations in advance to ensure normal fuel supplies across the country during the Songkran Festival holiday, and urged the public not to panic or stockpile fuel unnecessarily.

According to Thai Headline News Agency, Anutin said that as Songkran approaches, demand for returning home and travel will rise sharply. The government has already coordinated related resources and is continuously working with the energy department and businesses to ensure people can refuel and travel smoothly during the holiday.

He admitted that the government's main concern is not insufficient fuel reserves, but that some people may panic-buy or stockpile fuel out of worry. If adding oil to vehicle tanks, that is understandable, but if storing in barrels or fuel drums, this may actually cause temporary supply tightness at some local gas stations.

Therefore, Anutin urged the public to remain rational and refuel as usual, without excessive stockpiling. He emphasized that as long as society maintains normal consumption patterns, there will be no so-called "fuel shortage" during the Songkran Festival.
