BINTANGOR: A targeted anti-drug operation under Ops Tapis Khas led to the arrest of three individuals who tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine at a village here on Friday evening.
Meradong District police chief DSP Tansli Mering said the suspects, one man aged 39 and two women aged 41 and 27, were detained at 5:55 pm by a team from the Meradong District Police Headquarters.
“They were taken to the district headquarters, where urine tests conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) found them positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
Background checks revealed that none of the suspects had prior criminal or drug-related records.
“The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or imprisonment of up to two years upon conviction,” he said.
