The TVB entertainment talk show Weekly Stars aired on the evening of the 5th, with 'Principal' Alan Tam as the guest. On the program, Alan Tam spoke at length about his long-standing friendship with Eric Tsang, and personally responded to rumors of discord with Nat Chan (Ah Lek).
In the 'Exclusive Archaeology' segment, Alan Tam personally explained the roots of his enduring friendship with Eric Tsang, host of the 'Prizes Master' game show. He revealed that the two are actually family friends and became close as teenagers by playing football together. Later, when both went to Taiwan to develop their careers, they reunited there and deepened their understanding of each other. Upon returning to Hong Kong, they collaborated on multiple films, forging an enduring bond that has lasted to this day.
In response to recent repeated rumors about his supposed falling-out with good friend Nat Chan, Alan Tam laughed and clarified the situation during the show, emphasizing that there is 'absolutely no problem' with their friendship! He recalled that the two met as early as when they were 16, and that their friendship has a very solid foundation. Speaking to much outside speculation, Alan Tam explained: 'But now many people are asking, because he has now joined another football team, which he started himself. We just have different directions, and that's really understandable.'
Alan Tam further added that everyone just wants to give other artists or players more opportunities, and that this does not affect their relationship at all. Alan Tam asserted unequivocally: 'It's just that we have different directions; our friendship will not be affected, not at all!' This statement also put host Maria Lai’s concerns to rest.
In addition, Alan Tam shared on the show how he once suffered a perforated eardrum due to an accident. The incident caused him permanent impact—although it doesn’t affect his singing, his high notes have 'disappeared,' and to this day, the sound he hears in his left and right ears remains different. Because of this, he is particularly sensitive to the 'pop-pop' noise made when mahjong tiles collide. Just one or two hours of listening will trigger tinnitus for him, which, he revealed, is the real reason he never plays mahjong.
