SRK: Police arrested two men in their 30s in Bintangor area for suspected involvement in drug-related activities.
The suspects, aged 34 and 39, were nabbed during an Ops Tapis operation at 8.15 pm yesterday.
Meradong District police chief DSP Tansli Mering said the suspects were later brought to the Meradong district police headquarters for further investigation.
“Urine tests conducted on both suspects at the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJND) office in Meradong returned positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he said in a statement today.
He added that background checks revealed neither suspect had any prior criminal or drug-related record.
“The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a fine not exceeding RM5,000 or imprisonment for up to two years upon conviction,” he said.
Tansli said the Meradong police take drug-related offences seriously and will not compromise on such matters.
He also urged members of the public to come forward with any information related to drug activities in the district by contacting the Bintangor police station at 084-693222.
