REMBAU, Dec 6 (Bernama) -- Residents of Kampung Sawah Raja here are now benefiting from various local infrastructure upgrades worth RM1 million after the village was selected as a Kampung Angkat MADANI (MADANI Adopted Village) by the Foreign Ministry.
Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said the initiative aims to ensure that all communities, particularly those in rural areas, have equitable access to development opportunities.
He said that a range of projects had been carried out under the MADANI Adopted Village initiative, including the construction of a community hall, futsal court, and multi-purpose hall, as well as upgrades to the local surau and mosque.
“To prevent the village from being shrouded in darkness at night, stand-alone solar-powered streetlights have been installed to illuminate pathways without relying on the electricity grid. In addition, new roads have been built to shorten travel time for residents commuting to nearby villages,” he said.
“Alhamdulillah, this is a commendable effort made possible through the cooperation of all parties to ensure that government initiatives are realised, allowing rural communities to witness and enjoy development together,” he said.
He told reporters this after officiating the launch of the Foreign Ministry’s Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) MADANI Adopted Village programme in Kampung Sawah Raja, Kota, today.
The Rembau Member of Parliament said this is the second MADANI Adopted Village initiative implemented in the district, after Kampung Kancung Rantau, which received similar benefits last year.
