Two Small Planes Collide Mid-Air in US, 2 Dead

The U.S. federal aviation safety investigators reported that a mid-air collision occurred on the morning of the 19th at Marana Regional Airport in Tucson, Southern Arizona, involving two small planes, resulting in two deaths. Each of these planes carried two people.

According to the Associated Press, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigating the incident pointed out based on preliminary information that one of the planes landed successfully, while the other crashed near the runway and caught fire. 


The Marana Police Department confirmed that the two deceased were on the same plane and noted that rescue personnel were unable to provide timely medical aid. Officer Lee Ji stated that the two individuals on the other plane were uninjured. 

Lee Ji mentioned that the city fire department assisted in extinguishing the fire. 

According to a statement from the town of Marana, neither the Lancair aircraft nor the Cessna 172 plane involved in the incident were based at this airport.
