Munich Airport in Germany has recently experienced repeated drone disruptions, resulting in flight interruptions. Following the first drone intrusion incident in the evening of the 2nd, the airport was again forced to halt all flight operations on the evening of the 3rd due to another drone sighted near the runway area. Approximately 6,500 passengers were affected, and dozens of flights were canceled or delayed.

According to a statement from Munich Airport, at around 9:30 p.m. on the 3rd, after a drone was spotted near the runway, the airport decided to restrict air traffic and subsequently suspended all takeoffs and landings. The incident caused 23 arriving flights to divert to other airports, 12 scheduled inbound flights to Munich to be canceled, and 46 flights to be delayed or canceled, impacting around 6,500 passengers.

The police stated that before 11 p.m., patrol officers simultaneously spotted two drones near the runways on the north and south sides of the airport. However, the drones left quickly, preventing identification of their models or origins. Police deployed helicopters to search, but have yet to obtain more details.

This was the second consecutive day of drone disruptions at Munich Airport. On the evening of the 2nd, both runways were closed from after 9 p.m. until midnight, resulting in the cancellation of over 30 flights and nearly 3,000 passengers stranded.
