The Thai Disaster Management Department announced that floods along several provinces on the banks of the Chao Phraya River (Mae Nam River) this week have affected over 260,000 people.
The department initially reported on the 23rd that 4 people had died in central Thailand, but has now raised the death toll to 7.
On the 26th, Thai Prime Minister Anutin inspected Ayutthaya, the worst-affected province, marking his first official visit since taking office.
Accompanied by disaster management staff, he ordered authorities to distribute relief packages, build sandbag barriers, and monitor areas prone to landslides.
He told residents: "We have an entire team dedicated to easing your hardships, and we plan to respond to your needs."
