The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dato' Sri Mohamad Sabu, stated that as of September this year, the Department of Veterinary Services has approved 1,545 egg subsidy applications totaling RM753,826,341.90.
He mentioned that this year's egg subsidies are released quarterly.
He said that the government began approving egg subsidies in February 2022 to help farmers maintain stable farm operations and egg supplies.
"The provision of egg subsidies aims to offset the cost difference in egg production for Grade A, B, and C eggs when price control measures are implemented."
Mohamad Sabu stated this in a written reply to the Member of Parliament for Tumpat from the Islamic Party, Bakri Jamaluddin, who inquired about the egg subsidies distributed by the government so far.
