(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) The Tutong District of the Royal Brunei Police Force recently raided a residence in Kampong Batang Mitus, successfully busting illegal gambling activities involving 'Katam-Katam' and 'Paikaw', and detained 30 suspects involved in the case.
This joint operation involved a total of 46 officers and personnel, with support from the Royal Customs and Excise Department.
In the operation, police detained 27 men and 3 women, aged between 14 and 70. One was a foreign national, while the rest were local citizens.
Law enforcement officers also seized various currencies at the scene, with a total estimated value of over $21,900, and confiscated multiple gambling devices involved in the illegal activities.
In the same operation, the Royal Customs and Excise Department also seized multiple contraband items, including 178 cigarettes of different brands, one bottle of alcoholic beverage, and three electronic cigarette devices.
All suspects have been instructed to report to the Tutong Police Station, as well as the Enforcement and Legal Division of the Royal Customs and Excise Department in Kuala Belait, to assist in the investigation and for further action.
The case is currently being investigated under Chapter 28, Section 6(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act.
