A 34-year-old man living alone continuously banged on his door for a whole hour. His neighbor, unable to tolerate the disturbing noise, called the police. Unexpectedly, the police discovered that the man had suddenly suffered a stroke; unable to seek help, he could only keep banging on the door. The neighbor who broke down and called the police ended up becoming his life-saving hero.
This incident occurred on Dacheng Street in Beiqu District, Taichung, Taiwan. The police received a report from a person stating that their neighbor had been persistently banging on their apartment door for about an hour, with the loud noise disrupting the peace. They hoped the police could assist in handling the situation.
When the police arrived, they called out to the resident, but there was no response. When an officer pressed his ear against the door to listen closely, he heard sounds of struggling coming from inside.
The police immediately notified the fire department for assistance and called a locksmith to help open the door. While waiting for emergency personnel, the police encouraged the resident to try to open the door himself and communicated with him to check his level of consciousness.
Eventually, the police successfully entered the apartment and found the resident lying naked on the floor, his body convulsing and unable to speak. It turned out he had suffered a stroke. He was immediately rushed to the hospital by fire department personnel, and his family was notified to go to the hospital.
Zhong Cheng-Zhi, Director of the Second Precinct of the Taichung Police Department, emphasized that if the officers had not been attentive and promptly noticed something was wrong, the consequences could have been unimaginable. He urged the public not to take suspicious situations lightly and to make good use of the emergency hotline or seek help at the nearest police station.
