Hong Kong Entertainment Circle Gains Two More 'Consorts-in-law': TVB Supporting Actors Marry Wealthy Brides

Hong Kong media often refer to male celebrities who marry women wealthier than themselves as "consorts-in-law". In the past, well-known actors labeled "consorts-in-law" include Dou Xiao, Bobby Au-yeung, Kevin Cheng, Edwin Siu, Lai Lok-yi, and Benjamin Yuen. This month, the Hong Kong entertainment circle has welcomed two more "consorts-in-law." Although their fame isn't particularly high, loyal fans of Hong Kong dramas would likely recognize them.

30-year-old Ricky Yung (Yung Tin-yau) became known for his role as intern clerk "Tony Jai" in the TVB drama "The Legal Mavericks". He held his wedding with wealthy heiress Fu Tin-yan at a grand hotel, wearing a deep blue traditional groom's robe embroidered with golden dragons. The bride wore a luxurious pink diamond-embroidered Chinese wedding dress (drilled kua) adorned head-to-toe in gold jewelry, including a huge mace-shaped dragon-phoenix bangle—impressive in weight. The so-called "drilled kua emperor" refers to an extremely lavish version of the traditional Cantonese dragon-phoenix wedding gown, made with the finest gold threads and encrusted with diamonds or sequins, featuring dragons and phoenixes as the main pattern—this is the highest grade of Chinese wedding attire. It is reported that Fu Tin-yan is a jewelry wholesaler with a substantial business.

The wedding banquet had 23 tables, with celebrity guests including Louise Lee, Ruco Chan, Wan Yeung-ming, Lawrence Cheng, Rebecca Zhu, Joy Sheng, Jacky Chung, and Hera Chan. Before the feast began, the newlyweds and their groomsmen and bridesmaids made a lively entrance by dancing, and it was a great success.

Wong Chi-dik, who played the security guard "Iron-faced Chan" in the long-running TVB sitcom "Come Home Love: Happy Courier," successfully proposed to his girlfriend Nicole, heiress of the "Hip Lee International Beauty Group" in June. It turns out the family had a double celebration—he had already become a father. Recent photos show the 41-year-old and his fiancée holding a warm 100-day banquet for their baby daughter. His wife Nicole is said to have assets of over ten million Singapore dollars.
