Chinese Tourists Fall Off Cliff on Pattaya Island: 1 Dead, 1 Injured

An accident involving a motorcycle falling off a cliff occurred on June 7 on Koh Larn, an island near Pattaya, Chonburi Province, Thailand. A male Chinese tourist died at the scene, and his daughter was sent to the hospital with injuries.

According to a China News Service report, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand confirmed on the evening of the 7th that it had received information on the casualties involving Chinese citizens. The embassy immediately contacted the local police and hospital, requested urgent rescue for the injured, and proper preservation of the deceased's remains. The embassy has contacted the deceased's family in China to inform them, and will provide assistance to the family for follow-up affairs in Thailand.

It is reported that the accident took place on the downhill section by the wind turbine viewpoint on Koh Larn. The local rescue center received a call for help that a motorcycle had lost control while going downhill, ran off a curve, and fell off a cliff. Rescue personnel rushed to the scene. The deceased was identified as a 51-year-old Chinese male tourist, and the injured party was a Chinese female, about 30 years old, confirmed to be his daughter. The rescue team gave her first aid on site and then transported her to the hospital for further treatment.

Preliminary police investigation showed the father and daughter had rented a motorcycle after arriving on the island to visit the wind turbine viewpoint; on their way back downhill, the vehicle lost control and went off the curve, falling from the cliff. The local police are further investigating the exact cause of the accident. The deceased's remains have been sent to the hospital for temporary storage, awaiting the family to complete identification and related procedures.
