SEREMBAN, July 28 (Bernama) -- The Bandar Enstek Hospital, to be developed on a 50-acre (20.23-hectare) site in Bandar Baru Enstek here, is expected to be fully completed and operational by 2032, enhancing healthcare capacity and improving access to medical services for more than 700,000 residents in Seremban and surrounding areas.
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the construction of the major specialist hospital, with an initial capacity of 350 beds, was now at the final stage of the Federal land acquisition process involving a site currently used by the Ministry of Higher Education.
He said construction works for the hospital were expected to commence as early as 2028 following the completion of the land acquisition process.
“An allocation of RM30 million for land acquisition and preliminary works for projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP) has been announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the 2026 Budget.
“When completed, the facility is expected to benefit more than 700,000 residents in Seremban, Nilai, Labu, Lenggeng, Seremban 2, Sendayan and nearby areas, thereby easing the burden on Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital as the state’s main referral hospital,” he told reporters after visiting the proposed site of the hospital today, which is located near the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) here.
According to Dzulkefly, the hospital’s capacity would be increased in phases from the initial 350 beds to a maximum of 500 beds.
He said Bandar Baru Enstek was selected as the location for the hospital as it is located within the Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) corridor and has good connectivity to the highway network.
“The construction of the new hospital in Seremban district is a strategic government investment to strengthen the Negeri Sembilan healthcare system over the next 20 to 30 years.
“The Ministry of Health (MOH) will continue to work closely with the state government, relevant ministries and agencies to expedite the implementation of this project for the benefit of the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Dzulkefly dismissed claims that the announcement of the hospital construction was merely “election candy” ahead of the Negeri Sembilan state polls this Saturday, stressing that the project was the result of continuous efforts by the state government, Federal Government and MOH since 2024.
“In fact, the need to build a new hospital in this district and surrounding areas to meet current healthcare demands was raised by Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun in March 2024,” he said.
