(Miri, 29th) The Miri Foochow Elderly Club will be holding its 20th (2026–2027 term) inauguration ceremony for its board of directors and a May Day Labor Day celebration tomorrow (May 1st, 2026, Friday) at 11:30am on the 5th floor banquet hall of the Miri Imperial Hotel. At that time, the new board will be sworn in, gathering with members to celebrate Labor Day together.
“May Day” as an international festival, symbolizes the dignity and value of workers, as well as embodies the spirit of diligence, hard work, and solid contribution.
The organizers stated that by combining the inauguration ceremony with the Labor Day celebration, it embodies the spirit of labor as the foundation, passing the torch and opening new chapters – not only paying high tribute to workers in all industries who contribute silently, but also encouraging the new board to uphold a pragmatic spirit and continue contributing to the society’s development.

Event chairman Yu Xian Song issued a final warm reminder today, pointing out that it has never been easy to raise funds for the club, and every bit of resource is the result of the board's and passionate advisors’ hard work and dedication. Behind all this carries the toil and support of many people.
He sincerely requests that all members who have collected their meal tickets must attend punctually, cherish resources, respect the efforts of the organizing committee, jointly promote the Foochow tradition of diligence, thrift, loyalty, and righteousness, and respond through real action to the Labor Day’s core spirit of “cherishing achievements and respecting contributions.”

This board inauguration ceremony has especially invited Miri Mayor Yu Xiaoshan as the oath witness, and the club’s honorary advisor Zhan Liyun as the witness. The ceremony will be solemn and meaningful, symbolizing the mission and responsibility of passing the torch, as well as showcasing the Foochow community’s solidarity and mutual support.
The Miri Foochow Elderly Club has long been committed to uniting Foochow kinship, actively promoting community service and cultural heritage.
This “double celebration” event not only shows respect for the value of labor but also highlights the traditional virtues of cherishing resources and being grateful for one’s roots.
The organizing committee cordially welcomes all ticket-holding members to attend punctually, to take part in the grand event, share warm moments, and, while gathering together, jointly feel the meaning and warmth of Labor Day.
Note: This double celebration is limited to ticket-holding members only, with limited seating. Please be sure to attend on time.
