Brunei Sends Delegation to Asian Beach Games: Prince Presents Flag to Eight-member Team

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) Brunei will send a delegation to participate in the 6th Asian Beach Games, to be held in Sanya, China from April 22 to 30, 2026. 

The Brunei delegation consists of a total of 8 members, including 4 athletes and 4 officials. The officials include the head of delegation, a head of secretariat/security/safeguarding officer, an anti-match-fixing official, and one coach. 

For this, a flag handover ceremony for the Brunei delegation was held at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, presided over by Brunei Darussalam National Olympic Council (BDNOC) President Prince Sufri Bolkiah. 

In his speech, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Nazmi Mohamad recalled Brunei’s first participation in the previous 5th Asian Beach Games held in Da Nang, Vietnam in 2016, when Brunei only competed in sepak takraw and managed to win a bronze medal. 

He stated that he hopes this achievement will inspire the athletes to raise their morale and continuously surpass themselves in healthy competition. 

The Minister pointed out that for this year’s Games, Brunei will send an 8-member delegation to compete in athletics and teqball, including one head of delegation, four athletes, two coaches and one head of secretariat. 

He also reminded athletes to be vigilant against illegal or suspicious drugs and supplements, and expressed hope that the delegation would achieve further success on the international stage and bring honor to the country. 

During the ceremony, the Prince handed the national flag to team captain Pengiran Abdul Raub. The national team is scheduled to depart for Sanya, China on April 18, 2026.
