(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) Brunei is currently experiencing the Southwest Monsoon, which is expected to continue until September.
Active weather conditions are expected to persist until Thursday. Locally heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected, mainly affecting inland areas in the afternoon, and possibly spreading to coastal and maritime areas at night and in the early morning.
During or near periods of severe thunderstorms, wind gusts may reach up to 50 km per hour.
Overall sea conditions in Bruneian waters are mild, with wave heights ranging from 0.2 to 0.6 meters.
The public is advised to take precautionary measures based on the predicted active weather conditions. During periods of persistent heavy rain and high tides, low-lying areas, flood-prone areas, and regions near riverbanks are highly susceptible to flash floods. Severe showers and gusty conditions may also trigger landslides, fallen trees, and damaged rooftops.
The public, road users, and fishermen are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts, announcements, and warnings issued by the Brunei Meteorological Department, and to take necessary measures to ensure safety.
