Support PM's Rejection of Inappropriate Guidelines Question Whether Related Minister Discussed with Cabinet

(Miri, 8th) In response to the controversial 'Guidelines for Malaysian Muslims Attending Non-Muslim Events', Sarawak DAP Secretary Alan Ling  today fiercely criticized the absurdity of this guideline and fully supported the Prime Minister and the Cabinet's final decision to reject the guideline.

He stated that the guideline not only contradicts Malaysia's multicultural social background but is also completely meaningless.

'Since its founding, Malaysia has always valued coexistence of diverse cultures, races, and religions as a core principle, yet this guideline attempts to draw boundaries from a narrow religious perspective, undermining the harmonious relationship between different ethnic groups.'

He further questioned whether the relevant minister had discussed this guideline within the cabinet before its announcement? Was this important policy carefully considered, or was it a hasty unilateral decision?

Additionally, he questioned National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang whether, when drafting this guideline with the Minister of Religious Affairs, there was any consideration of its impact on national unity and the multicultural image of Sarawak. Or is Sarawak Alliance's so-called diversity merely superficial, and fundamentally they still wish to dance to the tunes of PN, leading the country towards extremism?

Ling emphasized that Malaysia's multiculturalism and religious freedom are recognized and protected by the Federal Constitution, and any attempt to deny this is a betrayal of the founding fathers' original intentions and a contempt for the spirit of the Constitution.

Sarawak DAP firmly defends the core value of a multicultural society and calls on the government to ensure that similar policies do not reappear, to maintain national harmony and unity.
