(Miri, 8th) The Sarawak Minister of Transport, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, participated in the Program Gotong-royong Komuniti Pasaca Bencana Banjir at Kampung Pujut Tanjung Batu today.

During the meeting, Lee Kim Shin stated that today is the second event organized by the Miri Disaster Management Committee. He hopes that through community cooperation, the efficiency of cleaning can be improved to help the disaster area restore cleanliness and safety as soon as possible.

"This clean-up operation is my initiative to mobilize various forces to promptly carry out cleaning work to address environmental issues caused by the flood. Due to the limited manpower of the municipal council, community power is key to the cleaning operations. Multiple volunteer organizations have actively responded, jointly participating in the cleaning of the affected areas.  "

He pointed out that floods certainly cause a lot of garbage, so everyone needs to clean up quickly to avoid various health problems and also assist disaster victims in cleaning their homes.

Lee Kim Shin also urged the Miri City Council to promptly clean the blocked drains, as many floods are caused by poor drainage systems, so he hopes that this activity can also facilitate drain cleaning.

"Residents of Miri should jointly maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of the city. Do not discard garbage indiscriminately, and make sure to dispose of garbage in the large bins prepared by the authorities to avoid affecting environmental hygiene."

It is reported that today's event saw the participation of over 202 people.
