(Bandar Seri Begawan, 4th) Jerudong Park Medical Centre (JPMC) recently celebrated World Social Work Day, paying tribute to social workers.
This year’s celebration adopted the global theme of “Building Hope and Harmony Together: A Call to Unite Divided Societies,” reflecting the medical centre’s commitment to fostering compassion, unity, and a spirit of service within the community.
The event was officiated by the Minister of Health, who also serves as JPMC’s Board Chairman and Executive Director, Isham.
The centre’s Director of Integrated Medical Services, Dr. Wardi, emphasized in his speech the important role social work plays in bridging divides and providing care.
Afterwards, attendees watched a video illustrating the significance of social work from the perspectives of both staff and patients, deeply exploring the true meaning of serving others.
This was followed by a special religious lecture by Religious Development Officer Muzaffar titled “Returning to Purity: Rediscovering the Value of Ihsan in Care and Service.”
During the event, the centre presented certificates of appreciation to sponsors and suppliers in recognition of their support; at the same time, distributed Hari Raya gift baskets to patients as an expression of care and goodwill.
At the end of the event, guests and participants enjoyed refreshments and engaged in pleasant exchanges.
