(Miri, 5th)  Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, along with the Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari, attended the Malay Leader Eid Celebration held at the Miri Indoor Stadium today.

The Premier, in his speech at the event, stated that the Governor's attendance at various ethnic festive celebrations demonstrates his equal treatment and care for the people of Sarawak. Sarawak is the best example of harmonious living among different ethnic groups, as everyone can celebrate festivals together, enjoying food and drinks, something not seen elsewhere in Malaysia.

“Recent developments in Miri include the deep-sea port project. Once this two-year project is completed, it will bring significant development to Miri, especially in import and export trade.”

He also mentioned that the deep-sea port would accommodate cruise ships, impacting Sarawak's tourism industry as these ships can bring thousands of visitors.

He pointed out that Miri has unique advantages in tourism development as it houses two world cultural heritage sites: Mulu National Park and Niah National Park. The government will further develop Miri's tourism facilities, allowing more tourists to enjoy Sarawak's beautiful scenery.

He stated that once the Limbang Bridge is completed, it will connect with the Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien Bridge, allowing travel from Brunei to Limbang in minutes, greatly enhancing business travel development and connectivity between the two regions.

The above events also included a cake cutting ceremony celebrating the 66th anniversary of the Miri Malay Association and the presentation of excellence awards to outstanding individuals.
