(Miri, 5th) The Deputy Minister of Tourism Sarawak, Datuk Sebastian Ting, stated that Sarawak has always been known for its racial and religious harmony, with people upholding the spirit of unity and harmony, celebrating together, and sharing joy.
"In Sarawak, whether it is Hari Raya, Chinese New Year, Christmas, Gawai Dayak, or Deepavali, everyone opens their doors to celebrate these festivals together. This atmosphere of mutual respect and tolerance among different ethnic groups is a social asset that everyone is proud of."
Sebastian Ting, in an interview last night when celebrating Hari Raya with Muslim friends, expressed that today's Sarawak is not only a model of harmony for Malaysia but also a rare example of multicultural integration in the world. People should cherish the hard-won spirit of unity, allowing the tradition of celebrating together to continue to be passed down.
He urged everyone to continue to maintain love and care for each other, regardless of differences, to build a better Sarawak together.
