(Kuching, 10th) Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar held a meeting yesterday at the Prime Minister's Office in Putrajaya with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari to conduct in-depth discussions on issues between the National Oil Company (Petronas) and Sarawak Oil Company (PETROS). The meeting was also attended by the top leadership of Petronas and the Sarawak Oil Company.
According to a media statement from the Prime Minister's Office, this meeting was conducted in a spirit of federalism, in a friendly and harmonious atmosphere.
During the meeting, both parties agreed to complete the basic principles of cooperation in the near future, based on previously reached consensus, to accelerate the negotiation process between Petronas and the Sarawak Oil Company.
The statement highlighted that this move is of significant importance to Malaysia, not only helping to fully tap the potential of cooperation between both parties but also effectively driving the development of key areas, including providing commercial energy supplies to ASEAN countries.
The Prime Minister and the Sarawak Premier also agreed that all related disputes will be properly resolved through negotiation.
