MY Anniversary Show Moves to Penang for the First Time, RM3 Million Invested to Create ‘Star Box Universe’

MY FM, which has held the No.1 spot in Malaysian Chinese radio listenership for 27 consecutive years, is investing RM3 million to produce this year’s anniversary show, MY FM Big Show: Star Box Universe. Hailed as Malaysia’s grandest annual Chinese entertainment event, the show will for the first time move to Penang and take the form of a concert, presenting the audience with a dazzling and electrifying audio-visual extravaganza.

MY FM held a launch event for the show on Tuesday afternoon, announcing that MY FM Big Show: Star Box Universe will take place on September 27 (Saturday) at 8pm at Setia SPICE Arena, Penang. At that time, the entire team of MY FM DJs will join overseas and local artists such as Pets Tseng, Jay Fung, YoungCaptain, Ivy, Priscilla Abby, Firdhaus, and Jestinna Kuan, to accompany the audience as they traverse dimensions and step into the imaginative “Star Box Universe” for a magical musical journey.

At the press conference, Firdhaus shared that he is currently secretly practicing his dance moves, hoping to surprise everyone with his dancing on stage, while Penang-born Jestinna Kuan joked that this time she successfully ousted her husband “3P’s” Danny to secure her spot as an anniversary show guest.

Astro Audio’s Chinese Content Director and MY FM Station Manager, Jeff Chow, stated: “The Big Show is MY FM’s most important and representative flagship event every year. It’s not just a concert, but a best portrayal of MY FM’s ‘Better Together’ spirit. We hope to use this stage to seek new breakthroughs, uniting all our DJs and bringing our supportive listeners a fun and memorable experience.”

MY FM Big Show: Star Box Universe producer Lim Teong Yew also shared, “This time, we used the theme ‘Star Box Universe,’ creatively infusing the concept of blind boxes into our show design. We want every audience member to feel like they’re opening a star box, not knowing what surprise comes next. Every program segment is like a star box, with DJs delivering performance pieces of all different styles, and the audience will experience surprise after surprise in every scene. Through the blind box concept, we hope the public can discover the DJs’ endless possibilities and charm from a new perspective.”

As usual, this year’s anniversary show tickets will only be given away, not sold. Fans and listeners who want to attend MY FM Big Show: Star Box Universe can stay tuned to the radio station and participate in ticket giveaways from August 25, or win admission tickets through games on the MY FM website, online contests, or on-site distribution activities.

Additionally, Astro AEC (Channel 306) will broadcast the event exclusively on October 12 (Sunday), at 5pm, allowing viewers who missed it or who want to relive the event to join in.
