Trump Denies Urgency to Reach Agreement, Continues Military Action Against Iran

Published at Mar 27, 2026 03:15 pm
On the 26th, U.S. President Trump denied being in a hurry to reach an agreement with Iran and stated that U.S. military operations against Iran are ongoing.

At a cabinet meeting, he fiercely criticized U.S. media reports claiming he was eager to end the war through diplomatic means, insisting instead that it is the Iranian side seeking to resume negotiations.

He pointed out that whether to cease hostilities depends on Iran, and in the meantime, U.S. airstrikes will continue.

He said he does not care whether an agreement with Iran can be reached, “I am not in a hurry at all.”

Trump stated that he is unsure whether Iran will comply with his set deadline of the 27th at the latest to open the Strait of Hormuz, nor is he certain the negotiations will go smoothly, but “we have plenty of time.”

The Strait of Hormuz Will Be Open

Trump pointed out that if Iran and the U.S. can reach the “right agreement,” the Strait of Hormuz will be open.

He said: “They (Iran) are begging to reach an agreement. We'll see if an agreement can be made. If the right agreement can be reached, then the Strait of Hormuz will be open. Even now, we are not sure if there are naval mines there. You know, they have 22 minelaying vessels.”

Trump stated that if Iran does not abandon nuclear weapons, the United States will be “their worst nightmare.”
