【Thailand-Cambodia Conflict】Clashes Also Occur Among Civilians—Reports of Thais Beaten at Cambodian Border

The border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand continues, and reports of large-scale civilian clashes have also emerged. In Poipet, a Cambodian border city, several Thai nationals were reportedly surrounded and attacked by local Cambodian youths.

According to Thai media outlet Khaosod Online, at 2 a.m. on the 25th, more than 50 Cambodians riding motorcycles were seen roaming the streets of Poipet, targeting individuals suspected of being Thai and launching attacks against them.

Several video clips show some Thais being beaten near casinos. So far, there are no reports of serious injuries or fatalities.

It is understood that videos circulating online suggest that Thai people provoked Cambodians, sparking discontent among Cambodian youths and prompting them to organize "retaliatory actions." The attacks were mainly concentrated in two locations, and Thai nationals have already been surrounded and beaten in those areas.

Aid organizations urgently issued alerts to Thais in the area, advising them not to go outside: "Currently, more than 50 motorcycles are roaming the city, specifically searching for Thais to attack. No matter who you are, as long as you are Thai, you may be assaulted. Please be careful and pay attention to your own safety."

At present, relevant Thai authorities stationed in Cambodia have not yet issued an official statement on the incident, but multiple aid groups have jointly released an urgent appeal, reminding Thai nationals working in Poipet and the surrounding areas to take precautionary measures.
