Haman Mutda: Community College Serves the Community, Helps Citizens Improve Skills and Increase Income

(Miri, 26th) Miri Community College principal Haman Mutda stated that the college has long been dedicated to promoting community education, actively organizing various skills training courses to help people from all walks of life, especially those in need, to improve their skills and increase employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

He said that many people think that community colleges only provide SPM (Malaysian Certificate of Education) graduates a platform for further studies, but the college's more important mission is to go deep into the community, promote lifelong learning, and help people enhance their knowledge and skills.

He stated that this time, the community college is cooperating with the Miri Single Mothers Counseling Center to hold the "Basic Patchwork Quilt Learning Class," hoping that through skills training, students will master a specialty. Although the course is based on interest and handicraft learning, the skills learned can be developed into home-based side businesses or even for commercial purposes, thus increasing sources of income.

Haman Mutda said that Miri Community College is the only community college in the northern Sarawak region, with its service area covering Bintulu to Lawas. In the future, it will continue to cooperate with government departments, associations, and community organizations to organize more training courses tailored to community needs, so as to improve the overall skill level of the community.
