(Miri, 16th) Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin today officiated the promotion ceremony for the covered waiting area at SMK Merbau.
In a media interview, Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin stated that the allocation for this project is RM400,000, which includes the expansion of the roadside covered waiting area for students, construction of a covered motorcycle parking area for students, central road divider, zebra crossing, traffic signs, and other safety infrastructure.
He pointed out that these works have alleviated the traffic congestion during school hours and also ensure that students can cross the road more safely.
He also mentioned that since many students commute to school by motorcycle, the covered parking area allows them to avoid sun and rain exposure.
Additionally, SMK Merbau Principal expressed her gratitude for the minister's funding and support. With these facilities in use, parents will spend less time picking up their children from school.
