(Miri, 16th) The body of a 15-year-old boy who was swept away by big waves a few days ago was found today.
SAFRIL AZA BIN MUSTAPA, the director of the Miri Maritime Enforcement Agency, stated at a press conference that the search and rescue unit received a report from employees at a nearby construction site at around 7 am this morning. The body of the 15-year-old Mohamad Iqbal was found about 500 meters from the search area.
The search unit later handed the body over to the police.
It is reported that he was swept away by big waves while playing at the Kuala baram Batu Satu beach with three companions at around 4 pm on the 13th of this month.
Units involved in the search work included the Fire Rescue Department, the Maritime Enforcement Agency, the police, the Sarawak Coast Guard, the Civil Defense Force, and local residents. The team was divided into three groups after integration for the search. In addition to using boats to search on the sea, two drones were also deployed.
The authorities urge parents not to take their children to the beach during the holidays as Malaysia is currently experiencing the northeast monsoon, making the weather very unstable. If playing in the water is necessary, appropriate safety measures must be taken.
